David Kassir, Managing Director of Manna Wealth Management, an SEC-registered fiduciary wealth management firm, was quoted in Moneywise in an article by Christy Bieber about a saver who discovered a long-lost CD with a $30,000 balance, only to learn her bank has no record of it. The article explains where money goes when an account sits untouched for years, and how it can be recovered. David explained: ‘When a CD sits untouched long enough, the bank has to hand the money over to the state as unclaimed property. It does not vanish. The state just becomes the holder.’ He advised readers to search the unclaimed property site for every state they have lived in, and added: ‘The simplest fix of all is keeping your accounts consolidated, so your money never goes missing in the first place.’ The article was also syndicated to AOL and Yahoo Finance.
